In 2007, Forbes Magazine ranked Myrtle Beach one of the “Best Small Places for Business and Careers.” On the same list, Myrtle Beach
ranked 8th in job growth. As of 3rd quarter 2007, Myrtle Beach led South Carolina in job growth at 2.9%. Home construction in Myrtle Beach declined by 49.9% in the first nine months of 2007 from the same period in 2006, which was the highest decline in the state. Leisure, hospitality and health services industries are fueling job growth in Myrtle Beach, including the opening of the Hard Rock Amusement Park and Market Commons in 2008.

Employment / Economic Announcements
• El Sol Mexican Restaurant Supply, a food manufacturing/distribution and meat processing plant will locate in the Loris Commerce Center. The company will invest $4 million and 50 new jobs will be created when full production begins.
• ADG Wood Trusses LLC, a wood truss manufacturing plant, has located in Loris, SC. Anticipate adding 45 jobs by the end of the year.
• Racewear Manufacturing America, Inc., a high-tech manufacturer of custom race suits and apparel, has moved 100% of their operations to
Conway, SC. They are expected to bring 30 jobs by the end of 2008.
• Mid-Atlantic Drainage is expanding their concrete drainage pipe manufacturing facility in Horry County, SC. This expansion will create 35 jobs and $4.1 million in capital investment.
• Zephyr International LLC has relocated to Horry County and intend to invest $1.5 million in their new facility and hire 10 people.
