Charlotte-Mecklenburg Sub-Markets
 
Mecklenburg County holds the vast majority of all apartment communities in the region and includes Charlotte, Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill, and Pineville.

The vacancy rate improved nearly three percentage points to 8.3% in August. Three bedroom units reported the greatest improvement of nearly five percentage points.

Demand outpaced new supply over the past six months, with 2,314 units absorbed and 528 new units completed.

The average rent stands at $674 per month for the Charlotte- Mecklenburg submarket.

There are 2,084 units currently under construction in Mecklenburg County. An additional 4,666 units are proposed to be built.

Development activity continues to be the strongest in the Northeast submarkets.

Existing apartments in Mecklenburg County increased their rents 2.5% over the past six months
